QAre my uploaded images stored anywhere?
No. All conversion happens 100% inside your browser — your images and generated EPUBs are never sent to or stored on our servers. Unpublished manuscripts and commercial submission data are safe here.
QDo I need an account?
No. EPUB FACTORY is free and requires no sign-up.
QWho owns the copyright of my books?
You (or the rightful copyright holder) do. We claim no rights whatsoever over your images or generated EPUBs. See the Terms of Service for details.
Formats & conversion
QWhich formats are supported?
JPG (JPEG), PNG and WEBP images, plus PDF (each page is converted as an image into one EPUB). You can also create text books from pasted text or .txt files. PSD and other formats are not supported.
QWhich book type should I choose?
Choose "Page-layout manga" for panel comics, "Webtoon" for vertical-scroll comics, "Art book / photo book" for artwork collections, "Picture book" for children's books, and "Magazine / booklet" for zines and catalogs. See the how-to guide.
QWhich image size should I pick?
"Auto" is fine for most cases. Choose "720px" to keep files small, "1080px" for standard quality, or "Custom" for exact values. Aspect ratios are always preserved.
QHow long does conversion take?
It depends on the number of images and your device, but a few dozen images per episode usually takes seconds to a few minutes. The very first run needs a moment to load the conversion engine.
QDo folders from both Mac and Windows work?
Yes. __MACOSX folders and .DS_Store files in Mac ZIPs are excluded automatically, and Japanese file-name encoding issues are handled too.
Troubleshooting
QI got an error during conversion. What should I do?
The error screen tells you what went wrong (e.g. unsupported files) and how to fix it. Follow the instructions and retry — episodes that succeeded can still be saved.
QMy EPUB doesn't open correctly in my reader.
Display and acceptance can vary between readers and store review rules. Please check your platform's specific requirements. If you think something is wrong on our side, let us know via the contact form.
QCan I use it on a smartphone?
The page works on phones, but converting many images depends on device power, so we recommend using a computer.

QCan I make vertical-writing Japanese novels or other text books?
Yes — use "Create from text" on the top page. Paste your manuscript or load a .txt file. Japanese vertical writing with Aozora-style ruby (漢字《かんじ》) and horizontal writing in 10 languages are supported. Chapters split automatically on lines like "# Heading".
QWill there be a paid plan?
Undecided. Even if one is introduced, currently free features will stay free.
